Solid Structural Precast Wall Panels

Single-wythe concrete panels for applications where thermal insulation isn't required — site walls, security enclosures, mechanical rooms, and specialty vault structures.

Overview

Solid precast wall panels are single-wythe structural concrete panels used where thermal insulation is not a requirement or where wall thickness needs to be minimized. Standard applications include site walls, security enclosures, mechanical rooms, maintenance and shop buildings, and gun vaults or safe rooms.

A solid panel is exactly what it sounds like — one continuous pour of reinforced concrete, cast full-thickness in a steel form. There is no insulation core, no composite tie assembly, no thermal-bow consideration. The panel arrives at the site as a structural element ready to set, weld, and grout in place.

Panel dimensions

  • Standard thicknesses: 6", 8", 10", and 12".
  • Custom thicknesses: up to 16" for high-load, blast-resistant, or ballistic applications.
  • Heights: up to 40' in single-piece panels; taller structures achieved via panel stacking with cast-in splice connections.
  • Widths: up to 12' typical; wider on request pending transport route review.
  • Weight: a 10" x 12' x 30' panel runs roughly 45,000 lbs — well within our production and delivery capacity, but relevant for site crane sizing.

Reinforcement

  • Standard: two-mat reinforcing bar with tie-in at each panel face.
  • Heavy sections: additional reinforcing per structural requirement — larger bar size, tighter spacing, or supplemental bars around openings.
  • Prestressed: pretensioned strand available for long-span or heavy-load panels.
  • Specialty: blast-resistant, ballistic-rated (UL 752 detailing), and forced-entry-resistant panels are engineered case-by-case with hardened detailing at joints, openings, and connection points.
  • Concrete strength: 5,000 PSI minimum design strength; higher strengths on specification for security and vault applications.

Finishes

  • Broom finish: the standard utility finish — durable, uniform, ready for paint or left raw.
  • Smooth-form: as-cast smooth face directly off the steel form.
  • Exposed aggregate: chemical retarder plus wash-off to reveal aggregate texture.
  • Sandblast: uniform matte texture; often used to break up the visual scale of large panel faces.
  • Form-liner: brick, ashlar, fieldstone, wood plank, or custom texture cast directly into the panel face.
  • Integral color: pigment mixed into the concrete for a permanent color that won't peel or fade the way surface coatings do.

Common applications

  • Site walls, screen walls, and perimeter enclosures
  • Mechanical rooms, generator enclosures, and utility screens
  • Maintenance buildings, shop buildings, and equipment storage
  • Gun vaults, safe rooms, and secure storage structures
  • Data center envelopes and secured mechanical yards
  • Loading dock walls and industrial partition walls
  • Retaining wall closures and non-earth-retention structural walls

Case reference

East Coast Precast has manufactured solid wall panel systems for custom security enclosures and vault structures. A recent gun vault installation used 10-inch solid wall panels topped with 10-inch solid precast roof planks — a fully cast-in-place-equivalent enclosure delivered in a fraction of the schedule and set in a single day. See Projects for photos and additional detail on the vault installation.

The Bailey job — an agricultural storage and workshop building in Amelia County — used the same solid wall panel product with a precast plank roof system for a multi-purpose farm building. Cast-in door and window openings, monitor-style ridge vent, and full lofted second-floor storage were all handled inside the panel package.
